Back in action at Valenciaposted in F125 | 06 | 2010

Valencia, Spain: Friday, June 25, 2010

Having sat out the Friday morning practice sessions in Monaco, Istanbul and Montreal — in order to allow Adrian and Tonio maximum time on the streets of Monte Carlo, and to acquaint themselves with the new F-duct on the Force India car in Turkey and Canada — Paul was back behind the wheel of the VJM03 when he again replaced Adrian.

Paul’s fastest lap on the 5.419km street track was 1min 43.729secs, enough to put him 16th on the timesheets. Afterwards, Paul admitted he was pleased to get back into F1 action after the long layoff.

Paul: “The conditions were far from ideal because the track surface was very green and dusty. But it felt good to be back in the car after a while watching from the garage. Valencia was again a completely new track for me but it was relatively easy to learn as there's not so many corners — it's straights, then turn in.

“The grip was very low at the start and the track was dusty so we found, as I think a lot of the other drivers did as well, that the tyres grained up very quickly. I could get up to speed quickly though, and completed the programme we wanted. I feel I know the car behaviour a lot more so I'm going forward with the schedule and coming back with results that can be fed back into the weekend, so I'm pretty happy with how it went.”
