Kimi rules out F1 returnposted in F106 | 10 | 2010

FORMER FORMULA One world champ Kimi Raikkonen has stated he has no intention of returning to F1, and the Finn has criticised the French team for using him to publicise themselves.

"I am very disappointed with how they have used my name for their own marketing," Raikkonen said today. "I have never even seriously considered driving for Renault, and I can assure you that I am 100% sure I will not drive for Renault next season."

Raikkonen made contact with Renault after the Belgian Grand Prix in August and it was known that the French team bosses were planning to put a deal together to put in front of the Finn. But now, even before talks have started, Raikkonen as made it clear he is not interested and will remain in the WRC next season with Red Bull and Citroen.

One significant outcome his Raikkonen's clarification of his position is it is now likely Renault will retain Vitaly Petrov for next season; the Russian brings significant financial backing to the team. The knock-on effect from this is Adrian Sutil will now stay with Force India meaning if Bathgate's Paul di Resta is to be promoted to a full race seat it will, more than likely, be at the expense of Italian Tonio Liuzzi.
