Di Resta outpaced by Audisposted in DTM03 | 09 | 2010

PAUL DI RESTA found himself outpaced by a gaggle of Audis in today's free practice session ahead of tomorrow's qualifying for the latest round of the DTM Championship at Brands Hatch.

The 24-year-old from Bathgate third in the title race, 11 points behind his fellow Mercedes driver Bruno Spengler, clocked a best time of 42.268secs round the Kent circuit to be seventh-fastest, 0.249s behind Mattias Ekstrom who led Audi to the top five fastest times.

"We've found over the past few races this season that the Audis are fast on Friday and then we get quicker and quicker as the weekend goes on," Di Resta, who won the corresponding race 12 months ago, said.

"We'll work on the car overnight because we know where we can find a bit more speed. We've another session tomorrow morning, then it's qualifying and I'd love to be at least on the front row.

"We've got a fair bit of momentum behind us having finished second in the last two races at the Nurburgring and Zandvoort. Hopefully on Sunday I can take another step up the podium and finish on the top step."
