Di Resta targets win No2posted in DTM16 | 09 | 2010

BATHGATE'S PAUL di Resta aims to continue his march towards the DTM Championship when he tackles the latest round at Oscherslaben in Germany this weekend.

The 24-year-old who, in the three races since the mid-summer break has racked up two second places and a win at Brands Hatch a fortnight ago, now trails his Mercedes team-mate Bruno Spengler by just nine points.

"It would be great to win again and close the gap further to Bruno in the race for the championship, but I guess the main thing is I just finish ahead of him," Di Resta, who flies to Singapore with his Force India F1 team next week, said today.

"Oscherslaben's a track which has been relatively kind to me in the past, in the last three years I've had a second and two fourth places, so I've generally left with decent points.

"This year though, especially after the dominant win we had at Brands Hatch and the two second places before that, my aims are higher. I'd be disappointed if I didn't leave with at least another podium finish under my belt.

"There are four races left this year, that's a maximum of 40 points. I know the guys have a quick car for me again this weekend, so I have to make sure I do the business on the track starting with practice on Friday.

"If we get the car half as good for the weekend as it was at Brands Hatch, where we totally dominated qualifying and the race, I'm comfortable we can move closer to the championship."
