Rosberg on Spa pole: Hamilton 21stposted in F127 | 08 | 2016

MERCEDES DUO NICO Rosberg and world championship leader Lewis hamilton will start from opposite ends of the grid for tomorrow’s Belgian Grand Prix.

While Rosberg grabbed pole position, lapping the Spa circuit in 1min 46.744secs, Hamilton completed just one run in Q1 opting not to challenge for pole on account of a 55-place grid penalty for multiple F1 engine changes.

Alongside Rosberg, Max Verstappen became the youngest-ever driver to seal a front-row start in his Red Bull, finishing just 0.249s off pole.

Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest for Ferrari, almost two tenths clear of team-mate Sebastian Vettel, who lost time to a big oversteer moment at the Bus Stop chicane on his final flying lap.

Verstappen’s Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo lines up fifth, with the two Force India cars of Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg in sixth and seventh respectively.

And while technical software glitches left both Williams cars down on power, resulting in Valtteri Bottas finishing eighth and Felipe Massa 10th, Jenson Button qualified his McLaren-Honda ninth.
