Jonny Adam seals British GT titleposted in GT11 | 09 | 2016

SCOT JONNY ADAM made history by becoming the first driver to successfully defend the British GT Championship. The Kirkcaldy racer sealed the title when be brought his TF Sport Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 home in second place behind the Black Bull Ecurie Ecosse GT3.

Adam, partnered by team-mate Derek Johnston, had started the race from pole position and their second place also clinched the team championship titles.

The result makes Adam the first driver to defend title in the top class of British GT, and also the first to win it with two different teams. He won last year's title alongside Beechdean AMR team-mate Andrew Howard.

“It's a great feeling to win this series back-to-back with two great customer teams and drivers in Derek Johnston and Andrew Howard.

“Yet again the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 is the car to beat and was a joy to drive all season long. Thanks to everyone involved in this success".

And the titles were also welcomed by Aston Martin Racing’s managing director, Scot John Gaw.

“It's great to win this title for the third time and the second year in a row,” he said. “Praise must go to both Tom Ferrier and his team for winning the team’s championship along with both Derek and Jonny, who altogether with the V12 Vantage GT3 have gelled so well consistently across the year.

“A team effort is what is required to win and there will be many people deservedly celebrating after this weekend.”
