New Jazz hybrid launched by Honda  25 | 08 | 2010

HOT ON the heels of its Insight and CR-Z, Honda has confirmed it will launch a hybrid version of its Jazz supermini. The new model, which is expected to have a CO2 figure of just over 100g/km, and return more than 65mpg — though Honda is still to confirm details — will be unveiled at the Paris motor show at the end of next month.

As you would expect, the Jazz hybrid will share many of its components with the Insight. At the heart of the supermini will be the Insight's 1.3-litre petrol engine-based hybrid powertrain mated to a CVT gearbox. And again, as is the case with the Insight, the hybrid Jazz will be able to run on electric power alone in low-speed conditions.

The newcomer will also get a number of visual tweaks and design cues to set it apart from its petrol-powered stablemate. The hybrid will boast revised headlights with a blue surround, clear tail-lights, a new front grille, different bumpers and flashes of chrome on the rear hatch, while inside the cabin there's a single-colour dash and blue-lit dials and instruments. For the first time on a Jazz in Europe, leather trim will also be offered. The Jazz hybrid enters Honda showrooms across Scotland next spring.
