Audi reveals RS3 25 | 11 | 2010

AUDI HAS finally unveiled its new RS3. The five-door sportback version of the A3 will be priced from £39,990 and order books are open now at Audi dealerships across Scotland. First deliveries are expected in April next year.

Mated to a seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission, the RS3’s 2.5-litre 338bhp engine will reach 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds. Audi, ever the optimist, says it’s possible to return 31mpg, though we think closer to 26mpg will be the real world everyday figure.

Externally the car sets itself apart from lesser-powered cars in the A3 range with a deeper front apron which incorporates enlarged air intakes, an anthracite coloured single-frame grille with diamond-patterned styling and xenon plus headlamps. The side view has flared, lightweight front wings covering 19-inch alloy wheels, mirror casings in matt aluminium look and a large roof spoiler.
Inside the cabin, sports seats are upholstered in Nappa leather with silver contrasting stitching, and inlays are finished in piano black or the new aluminium race look.

A sport button, acoustic rear parking sensors, electronic climate control, DVD-based satellite navigation with multi media interface functionality and xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights are all included as standard.

Optional features include front bucket seats, roof rails in matt aluminium look and styling packages in black or matt aluminium. Five exterior colours are available, plus a selection of custom paint finishes.
