Honda reveals facelifted Jazz 30 | 11 | 2010

HONDA HAS confirmed its facelifted Jazz will include a hybrid version when it enters Scottish showrooms on February 1. The new-look city supermini has taken on a mild restyling, particularly at the front end; the primary aim of this is to reduce the Jazz’s drag co-efficient from 0.336 to 0.330. New chrome trim on the dashboard, plus the option of leather seats on higher-spec models, are the highlights inside the cabin.

While the basic engine line-up of 1.2 and 1.4-litre petrols, remains unchanged, there have been small tweaks to both powerplants resulting in minor reductions to CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. The CO2 figure for the 1.4 manual is now 126g/km and returns 51.4mpg (combined), while the 1.2 delivers 123g/km and 53.3mpg.

As Scotcars confirmed previously, the hybrid Jazz shares much of its powertrain with the successful Insight and as a result delivers 62.8mpg and CO2 emissions of 104g/km.

Honda, wisely, has also decided to reintroduce a CVT option which was available on the first-generation Jazz. The transmission is also standard on the hybrid and an option on the regular 1.4 petrol model. The new model also gets new suspension settings — which Honda claims “increases ride comfort and improve handling” — and changes to the steering set-up to improve feel.

The entry-level 1.2 S Jazz is priced £11,295, though air-conditioning will set you back a further £700. The CVT start at £14,495, while the base Hybrid HE will cost £15,995 (all prices including 20% VAT).
