PORSCHE HAS finally confirmed it's to build a 'baby Cayenne'. The entry-level crossover, expected to enter Porsche's Scottish dealership network in 2013/14, will be called Cajun and is intended to attract new and even younger customers to the premium brand.

The new model, which will be based on the Audi Q5, is one of the German giant's key product plans which will contribute to it doubling its annual sales in the medium term to 150,000 units.

“The Cajun will further expand the company’s most successful segment worldwide.,' Porsche said today. “In addition to the new Cayenne, which has clearly consolidated its market position as the most successful sporty SUV in the premium segment, the Cajun will also make a positive impact, offering typical Porsche features such as lightweight construction, dynamic handling and agility.

"As an attractive entry model in the Porsche world, the Cajun will attract new and even younger customers to the brand along with the Boxster."
