45-week search for a parking space 25 | 10 | 2010
DRIVERS IN Scotland spend almost a year of their lives trawling round the streets looking for a vacant car parking space. According to a new survey, the average motorist loses the equivalent of more than six days a year in search of the elusive parking space.
The poll of 9000 drivers, carried out by NCP, identified Glasgow as the Scottish drivers who waste most time searching for a space in Scotland.
Based on a motorists' "driving life" lasting around 50 years, the lost time adds up to 7600 hours, or more than 45 weeks. Not suprisingly, Londoners lose the most time in the UK , spending an average of 182 hours a year in the search for a space.
