VW unveils new-look Jetta 28 | 10 | 2010

VOLKSWAGEN HAS revealed the first images of the new Jetta, the sixth-generation, which will enter Scottish showrooms early next year. The range includes two 1.4-litre TSI engines, developing 120bhp and 158bhp, and two diesel engines with a 1.6-litre TDI 103bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI developing 138bhp. VW's BlueMotion technology, including stop/start and battery regeneration, will feature in the 1.6 TDI.

VW has confirmed that six airbags, ABS and electronic stabilisation programme (ESP) as well as a 510-litre loadspace will all be fitted as standard.

And unlike the US specification Jetta, which was unveiled earlier this year, the models which will be sold in Europe will feature the four-link suspension system similar to that fitted to the Golf; this differs from the setup of the outgoing model. The new model will also have a wider track at the rear as well as revised springs and dampers.

Full details of spec levels and pricing will be announced closer to the sale date when Jetta hits the market next year.
