Agreement saves Vauxhall plant 20 | 09 | 2010

VAUXHALL'S PLANT at Luton appears to have been saved after a last-minute deal was done with Renault to co-develop the next-generation Vivaro van. There were fears the Luton plant may have closed after the current joint venture between the two companies expired in 2013 and General Motors was poised to slam the doors shut for good.

As part of the GM Europe’s restructuring plans, workers at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant, as well as in Luton, agreed in May to have their pay frozen for up to two years.
