Merc power for Infiniti 09 | 02 | 2011

INFINITI, WHICH recently opened its new Scottish centre in Glasgow, is believed to be planning to use a turbocharged Mercedes-Benz four-cylinder engine in its forthcoming baby model. Due to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the small, premium, coupé-like three-door hatchback is understood to be similar in concept to the Mercedes CLC.

It's expected the production model will be based on a new Renault-Nissan small platform which will also support the next Mégane. Infiniti is also set to use the Mercedes’ 1.8-litre CGI turbocharged unit (designation DE18LA) engine — producing 201bhp with a respectable 178g/km in a C-class — in the newcomer.
