Range Rover's £130k Ultimate 10 | 02 | 2011

RANGE ROVER is poised to break through the six-figure barrier when it introduces its new Autobiography Ultimate Edition. When it's unveiled at next month's Geneva Motor Show, don't be surprised if the limited edition costs close to £130,000.

Limited to just 500 models worldwide, the Ultimate will — not surprisingly really — be produced to individual order. Buyers can specify either a 4.4-litre V8 diesel or a 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 engine.

The rear cabin has been completely revamped by Range Rover designers: individual back seats, and a new centre console design — made of milled aluminium, leather and wood veneers — has been added. The console includes a drinks chiller and laptop table. The backs of the front seats have been modified to accommodate Apple iPads.

Luxury, as you would expect, knows no bounds (though you might well question the sense of it); the Ultimate Edition’s rear load space gets a yacht-style teak floor with aluminium and leather detailing. Just how sensible is that?

And while semi-aniline leather has been used for seating and new ‘Kalahari’ wood veneers feature on the door tops, the car gets the 'bling look' with unique 20in alloy wheels.
