All-black Porsche 911 25 | 01 | 2011

THIS IS the latest special edition 911, the Black Edition, which will be available in Scottish Porsche dealers from April; just 1911 models will be sold worldwide. Available as either a Carrera Coupe or Cabriolet, the limited edition, naturally, has a black theme running throughout.

Plain black paint is standard, though Basalt Black metallic is available as an option. Not surprisingly, the folding fabric roof of cabriolet models is also come in black; and the brake callipers, leather interior, instrument cluster, thick-rimmed SportDesign steering wheel and rear centre console are all ... black.

You will though be pleased to hear the non-black parts of the 911 include 19-inch Turbo II alloy wheels and aluminium-look painted trim for the fascia strip, gear lever and air vents.

Standard fitments to the car include sat-nav, ParkAssist, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic dimming mirrors and a 13-speaker (12 on cabriolet models) Bose surround-sound stereo.

In true Porsche style, power for the Black edition comes from a 340bhp 3.6-litre flat-six engine which is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The coupe models will cover the 0-62mph sprint in 4.9sec and continue to a top max of 180mph.

If the £67,270 for the coupe and £74,958 for the cabriolet — the same price as standard Carrera models — aren't high enough, you can always splash out on options, including a PDK dual-clutch gearbox, the Sport Chrono Plus package including Launch Control and the Porsche Active Suspension Management system.
