Mitsu reveals 'Global Small' 19 | 01 | 2011

THIS IS Mitsubishi's new ‘Global Small’ concept, which will make its first official appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The version which will enter Scottish showrooms will go into full production in March 2012 at Mitsubishi’s ‘third new factory in Thailand.’

The new five-seater car, which is expected to be sold in all major global markets, will deliver Co2 emissions ‘in the mid-90g/km range’ thanks to a combination of fuel-saving technologies.

Powered by a powerplant sized between 1.0- and 1.2-litres equipped with stop-start and regenerative braking, Mitsubishi says the Global Small's engine, new-generation CVT transmission and tyres have all been designed for low-friction and the braking system for low-drag. Designers have also paid specific attention to ensuring many of the car’s components have been lightened and the body styling has an emphasis on low aerodynamic drag.
