Smart launches 86g/km Fortwo 13 | 01 | 2011

SMART HAS launched a new special edition of its Fortwo city car with CO2 emissions of just 86g/km, using what it calls the cleanest combustion-engine anywhere in the world. The Smart Fortwo Lightshine uses the 54bhp, 0.8-litre, three-cylinder CDI engine.

The Lightshine also takes 'going green' to something of a new level. Based on the Passion coupé model, the Lightshine features light green matte body panels, LED daytime running lights, colour-coded headlamp surrounds, Lightshine badging and bespoke alloy wheels.

The titchy little car also includes a touch-sensitive satellite navigation system (as found in the top-spec Passion), CD/DVD/SD functionality and iPod connectivity. Other interior touches include a three-spoke steering wheel with gearshift paddles and floor mats with an embedded Lightshine logo.

Only 86 — the number reflects its CO2 figure — are bound for the whole of the UK, so Scottish Smart fans had better get along to their local dealer soon if they want to snap up one of the rare £11,405 Lightshine Smarts.
