Leipzig expansion for baby Porsche 17 | 03 | 2011

THE ALL-NEW baby Porsche SUV, the Cajun, will be built at the German giant's production plant at Leipzig. The German plant, where both the Cayenne and Panamera models are currently built, will be extended to accommodate the extra capacity. Around 1000 new jobs will be created at the factory.

The work to extend the plant's body assembly lines and paint shop specifically to cater for the Cajun — which is expected to appear in Scottish Porsche dealers in late 2012/early 2013 — will start later this year. The plant was previously extended two years ago to accommodate the Panamera.

Porsche says The Cajun, according to Porsche, will be “light and easy to handle” and German bosses believe it will “pave the way for new, even younger customers to enter the world of Porsche”.
