New Skoda Fabia due in 2015 18 | 03 | 2014

SCOTTISH SKODA DEALERSHIPS will begin selling the all-new Fabia — which will make its debut at September's Paris Motor Show — from the start of next year.

It's expected the new Fabia will be the first to sit on the short version of VW Group's MQB platform, dubbed MQB-A. Future cars within the VW Group to use the new platform will include the next-generations of the VW Polo and Seat Ibiza.

One major positive spin-off from the new platform is that the new Fabia will be longer and wider than the current model. In addition, it will deliver greater interior space, and a larger luggage capacity.

In standard form, the current Fabia is 4000mm long, 1642mm wide, and 1498mm tall. With the rear seats down, it also has a maximum storage space of 1180 litres.

The new Fabia will also incorporate Skoda's new design language, which includes a more prominent front grille with a larger Skoda badge, and appeared most recently on the facelifted Yeti.

Though Skoda has yet to confirm what the new Fabia's engine line-up will be, expect 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre TSI petrols, and a 1.6-litre diesel. And don't be surprised if the 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine, currently in the VW up!, also make an appearance.
