Da Vinci Code chapel goes green 10 | 08 | 2016

A SCOTTISH NISSAN dealership has supplied Rosslyn Chapel, made famous by the Hollywood blockbuster the Da Vinci Code, with the ‘Holy Grail’ of zero emission compact vans.

Alex F Noble & Son, based at Straiton by Loanhead, has supplied the Midlothian-bases Rosslyn Chapel Trust with a zero-emission Nissan eNV200.

The new van is already bringing significant savings in running costs for the Trust, the charity which oversees the Chapel’s conservation and public access, while also helping the environment by bringing CO2 emissions down to zero at the point of use.

Founded in 1446 as a place of worship with services continuing to be held there weekly, the famous landmark attracts visitors from far and wide, drawn by its mysterious carvings and lovely setting.

“Rosslyn Chapel currently holds a ‘silver’ award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme, so working in an environmentally-friendly way is very important to us,” Ian Gardner, director of Rosslyn Chapel Trust, said.

“Many of our business-related journeys are in the local area around Midlothian, so leasing this electric van is an ideal way for us to operate economically, efficiently and sustainably.”

Alastair Loudon, an electric vehicle (EV) specialist at Alex F Noble and Son Nissan, said: “We’re very pleased to see Rosslyn Chapel placing their faith in Nissan with the addition of an eNV200 all-electric van, which seems to be already proving ideal for their busy daily journey schedule and saving money at the same time.”
