Scots giant plans new Volvo dealership 19 | 07 | 2017

ARNOLD CLARK HAS applied for planning permission to build a new Volvo dealership in Aberdeen. If it gets the green light, the new showroom will sit on the site of a former Lidl supermarket which will be demolished.

The new dealership — which will be a replacement for Arnold Clark’s existing Aberdeen Volvo facility, nearby on Wellington Road — forms part of the Scottish car giant’s £1.5 billion nationwide investment to transform its image.

The new site, which sits on Girdleness Road in Torry, is located just a few yards from the old Arnold Clark Service Centre which was destroyed by fire in 2015.

And local Aberdeen City Councillor Alan Donnelly believes the new dealership will be welcomed in the area.

“Any economic development is welcome in Torry,” Cllr Donnelly said. “If Arnold Clark does manage to get the change of use, it would be beneficial for the community.

“All in all, it’s excellent news that people are looking towards the future. It’s all part of the economic wellbeing and redevelopment of Torry.”
