THE PONTIFF HAS a new Popemobile … and it’s a Lamborghini! Ok, Pope Francis has received a new £180,000 Lamborghini Huracan, but after signing and blessing the supercar, it’s being auctioned for charity. (Related: Record year for Lamborghini)
The Pope received the car — handed over by Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini chairman and CEO — in Saint Peter's Square, Vatican City. After the car was signed, it was handed over to Sotheby's auctioneers.
The car will be sold and the proceeds donated to charities helping victims of human trafficking, vulnerable women and children on the African continent, and Christians suffering persecution in Iraq.
Painted white with gold stripes in keeping with Catholic Church traditions, the Huracan has a top speed of 201mph and can go from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds.
