TOYOTA’S FACELIFTED 2018 Land Cruiser 4x4 has gone on-sale at Scottish dealerships priced from £32,795. The range includes four trim levels — including the new ‘Utility’ — and is available as a three- or five-door. The latter starts at £34,095. (Related: Toyota reveals all-electric plans)

There are subtle external styling tweaks to the facelifted model, which is now 60mm longer than the previous Land Cruiser.. The front gets a taller bumper plus realigned wing lines and bumpers, all on the same horizontal axis. At the back, there’s also a new bumper, plus new-look taillights.

Probably fair to say the entry-level Utility trim is targeted at the fleet sector, as it boasts simple 17in steel wheels, plus a CD player with Bluetooth and USB input. It does though also include automatic headlights, cruise control and aircon as standard.

Steep up to the Active trim, which starts at £39,095, and buyers get alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and dual-zone aircon, plus Toyota’s new Touch 2 eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There’s also a 4.2in TFT screen between the dials in the instrument panel, plus the  option of five or seven-seat configurations.

Next up is the Icon spec. Starting at £47,495 and only available in five- or seven-seat format, it boasts 19in alloys, ventilated front seats and LED headlights. It also includes Toyota’s Safety Sense system, which comprises of adaptive cruise control, pre-collision warning, pedestrian detection and lane departure warning.

At the top of the new Land Cruiser range, the £52,295 Invincible adds to its offroad reputation with the addition of a multi-terrain driving mode selector and crawl control, dynamic suspension and a locking rear differential. There’s also a blind spot monitor and a 360-degree panoramic camera monitor.

As for engines, it’s as you were. That means a 174bhp, 450Nm 2.8-litre turbo-diesel unit mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Torque drops to 420Nm when linked to the a six-speed manual.
