SsangYong boost for Scots projects 11 | 04 | 2019

NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL has taken delivery of two SsangYong Korando 4x4 vehicles. Handed over by Frasers of Falkirk, the vehicles will be predominantly utilised by its Justice Services Team to assist with a series of community projects, and to help home care workers to be able to travel more freely within the county. The all-terrain, versatile SsangYong vehicles have the capability to access remote and challenging areas that may have previously been more challenging to reach.

“Frasers are delighted to handover the two Korando vehicles to North Lanarkshire Council ,” David Wishart, dealer principal of Frasers of Falkirk, said. “The new 4x4 vehicles will be of great assistance as they help with rural community engagement. We’re really pleased to see them deployed in our local area and doing such an important job.”

North Lanarkshire’s Justice Services Team delivers effective assessment and management of offenders within the community. Prime objectives are to identify those offenders most at risk of harm either to themselves or are at risk of reoffending; and to establish whether a community-based management plan could support offenders to reduce the risk of harm, and the risk of reoffending.

“Our Justice Services Team want to ensure the local community is confident they’re working hard to reduce the risk of harm to local people, that it’s addressing victim issues, and that it’s contributing to the rehabilitation of offenders,” Jim Curtis, Placement Manager for Justice Services Community Payback Team, at North Lanarkshire Council, said.

“The level of assistance varies across the region. However, the Korandos will allow us to reach and engage with harder to reach rural communities. In addition, they will be an asset helping home care workers travel around in dubious weather conditions.”
