Mercedes reveals AMG GT prices 04 | 02 | 2019

MERCEDES’ NEW AMG GT range, which made its public debut at the LA Motor Show in November, is now on-sale from Scottish dealerships priced from £104,130 for the GT Coupe, and rising to  £144,230 for the range-topping GT C Roadster. First deliveries are scheduled for March. (Related: New E350 for E-Class Coupe and Cabrio)

Externally the updates are relatively minor. In addition to a choice of new alloy wheels and a new range of paint colours, there’s also new LED headlamps, new daytime running lights and new tail light. The GT and GT S models also get fresh black sill covers.

There’s also updates to the exhaust covers, with each being tailored towards each specific model. While the standard AMG GT gets new round covers, the GT S and GT C are now fitted with trapezoid-shaped covers. Rather bizarrely, the  GT R retains its central exit exhaust now comes with two, rather pointless, fake exhausts on its flanks. (Related: New Mercedes B-Class starts at £26,975)

But it’s inside where the biggest changes are to be seen. Not only is there a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, but also a 10.25-inch infotainment system. Plus the revised models get a leather AMG steering wheel with integrated displays, first seen in the GT 4-door coupe. Also carried over to the new GT is the GT 4-door coupe’s colour display switchgear on the centre console.

Power across the GT range comes from the same 4.0-litre, turbocharged V8 engine mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox. In the  GT Coupe and Roadster models, (priced from £140,030 and £115,730 respectively), the powerplant delivers 469bhp and 630Nm of torque. That means a 0-62mph time, for both models, of 4.0secs. The Coupe tops-out at 189mph, with the Roadster a tad slower at 188mph.

The mid-range GT S models get increased performance with 514bhp and 670Nm of torque from the same engine, and shaves 0.2s off the 0-62mph sprint. Max speeds are 193mph for the Coupe and 191mph for the Roadster, with prices £115,305 and £126,905 respectively.

As you'd expect, the GT S gets more standard kit, including AMG Ride Control sports suspension, an electronically-controlled AMG limited-slip differential, and the choice of either 19in or 20in 10-spoke alloys.

The range tops-out with the GT C models, priced £130,505 for the Coupe and £142,105 for the Roadster. And there’s even more performance, with power and torque rising to 549bhp and 680Nm. The 0-62mph time drops to 3.7secs, with top speed increasing to 197mph for the Coupe, and 196mph for the Roadster.

A panoramic sunroof on the Coupe models, electrically-folding and automatically-dimming wing mirrors, an automatically-dimming rear-view mirror, keyless go, AMG rear-axle steering,  and a Burmester surround sound system are all standard on the GT C.

And as you would expect, there are a host of other ‘options’ which can be added across the range; most are bundled into packages. For £3,495 for the base model GT Coupe, and £2995 for the Roadster, buyers can add the Premium Pack which includes a panoramic roof, keyless go and an upgraded sound system, all from the GT C.

Stump up a further £4495, and the AMG Carbon Fibre package adds carbon fibre replacements for the GT’s rear diffuser, air intakes, mirror caps and front splitter. It also includes fitting privacy glass to the rear windows.

The range will also gain a new flagship model, the AMG GT R Pro, which is a more track-focussed version of the 577bhp GT R. Mercedes has yet to confirm pricing.
