Arnold Clark acquires Phoenix 25 | 01 | 2019

    SCOTLAND’S LARGEST CAR dealership group, Arnold Clark, has purchased the Paisley-based Phoenix Car Company. Phoenix, which  carried out a restructuring in 2018 to boost its performance, represents Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Suzuki. (Related: Scots car giant to open in Bolton)

    Founded by chairman and chief executive, John McGuire, in 1993, Phoenix Car Company’s latest published accounts disclosed a turnover of £127.2m alongside a £1.41m loss.

    Arnold Clark's chairman and chief executive, Eddie Hawthorne explained: “I can confirm we are working with Phoenix to transfer some business assets and all existing employees to the Arnold Clark organisation as of 31 January 2019. 

    "We are also working to gain the agreement of the manufacturers to transfer the franchises as of that date. I hope we can continue to build upon what is already a prominent and well respected company within the automotive industry.''

    Glasgow-based Arnold Clark, the largest independent car dealership in Europe, has an annual turnover of £3.9 billion.
