Kia Ceed GT-Line and GT prices 14 | 01 | 2019

KIA HAS CONFIRMED prices and specifications for its all-new Ceed GT and GT-Line hatchbacks. The models will start at £21,535 when they go on-sale at Scottish dealerships later this year. (Related: Special offers at Kia for New Year)

The GT-Line — available with either a 118bhp 1.0-litre or 138bhp 1.4-litre GDi petrol engine, or 138bhp 1.6-litre diesel — borrows much of its styling from the range-topping GT, but misses out on the upgrades to powertrain and suspension.

A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, though buyers can opt for the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes found in the larger Proceed model. Top speed ranges from 118mph for the 1.0-litre variant to 130mph for 1.4-litre engine and manual gearbox. (Related: Refreshed Kia Sportage range starts at £20,305)

The top-of-the-range Ceed GT starts at £25,535, and again comes with the six-speed annual as standard, mated to a 201bhp 1.6 petrol. It’ll hit 62mph from standstill in 7.2secs, and carry on to a max of 143mph.

Sitting 5mm lower than the standard Ceed, Kia claims the GT now enjoys enhanced cornering behaviour boosted by having been developed and tested for an additional six months over the standard car.

In addition to stiffer front and rear springs, plus a new steering rack is said to turn 17% faster than the old model’s, the GT gets 320mm ventilated brake discs, an improvement on the 288mm brake discs fitted to the standard car. Engineers have also retuned the stability control system on the GT. Torque vectoring hardware is also standard.

The GT also gets its own soundtrack, with new flaps in the exhaust combining with an electronic sound generator to deliver a sportier exhaust note inside the cabin. There’s also black leather and suede sports seats — with red stitching and a red-stitched 'GT' logo in the seat back — plus a leather D-shaped steering wheel bearing the 'GT' logo, as well as aluminium driver pedals.

Externally, the GT is identified thanks to its 18in alloys, roof-mounted spoiler, honeycomb grille with red highlights, and unique front and rear bumpers.
