Cooper S celebrates Mini's 60th birthday 16 | 01 | 2019

    MINI HAS UNVEILED a limited edition Cooper S three-door hatchback to mark 2019 being the 60th anniversary of the launch of the original BMC Mini. Priced at £29,990 — a premium of more than £8500 over the standard model — and available to order at Scottish dealerships from March, just 500 models will be built.     All will be finished in the iconic British Racing Green, with a black roof and black mirror caps. They will also come as standard with LED headlamps, Mini spotlights, limited edition two-tone 17in alloys, plus exclusive 60th anniversary bonnet stripes and badging across the car’s interior and exterior.     Built at the Mini plant in Oxford, the limited edition model will also be fitted with a commemorative badge on the bonnet, as well as the indicator housings, plus projected by LED from the bottom of the driver’s door.

    The anniversary theme continues inside where the seats are finished with Mini Yours Leather Lounge in Dark Cacao, with green piping and white stitching to match the exterior paintwork. The 60 Years emblem displayed on the steering wheel and front seats.

    A wireless smartphone charger, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, folding exterior mirrors and customisable ambient lighting are also all standard. So too is Mini’s larger 8.8-inch infotainment system, with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity.

    Power for the Mini 60 Years Edition comes from the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and is mated to the seven-speed automatic gearbox from the Cooper S. The result is a 0-62mph time of 6.7sec, and top speed of 145mph. Mini says the car will return 43.5mpg and emit 129g/km of CO2.
