New Toyota Yaris Y20 and GR Sport trim 17 | 01 | 2019

    TOYOTA HAS INTRODUCED two new trim packages for the Yaris. Badged Y20 and GR Sport, the new models are inspired by the 1998 Toyota Yaris and hardcore Toyota Yaris GRMN respectively. On-sale now at Scottish dealerships. prices start at £17,465 for the Y20 and £19,835 for the GR Sport. (Related: New Toyota GR Supra unveiled)

    The Y20 (three pictures immediately below) celebrates 20 years of the Yaris nameplate. Early buyers will be able to bag one of 100 limited edition Y20s, each finished in the same gold metallic paint as the original 1998 Yaris. In addition, the roof, pillars and mirror caps will be finished in dark grey. (Related: New Toyota RAV4 spec and prices)

    The limited edition models apart, the Y20 trim will also be introduced across the whole Yaris range. The new package includes Y20 badging, a new front grille, fresh side skirts, tinted rear windows, a two-tone paint scheme (with the choice of gold, white or silver bodywork), and 16in alloys.     The Y20 cabin gets a satin finish for the gearstick gaiter surround, air-vents and speaker grilles, plus  reupholstered front seats stamped with the Y20 logo. The Toyota Yaris Y20 start at £17,465 for a manual 1.5-litre petrol and rise to £19,820 for an automatic 1.5-litre hybrid.

    The second new trim, GR Sport (main picture, and below), which starts at £19,835, benefits from upgraded Sachs sports suspension — similar to the suspension fitted to the GRMN — and a solid anti-roll bar. The GR Sport also sits 15mm lower than the standard Yaris.

    Externally, the GR Sport is identified by its striking black boot spoiler, oneycomb grille, tinted rear windows, two-tone paint-job, a unique pair of headlights, black fog-lamp surrounds, black mirror caps, and new-style 17in alloys shod with the same Bridgestone Potenza RE50 tyres as the GRMN.

    The interior gets a pair of ultrasuede-trimmed sports seats marked with the GR logo, a sports steering wheel borrowed from the GT86, black “GR” branded floor-mats and black headlining.
