Ford launches new scrappage scheme 02 | 07 | 2019

FORD HAS LAUNCHED a new scrappage scheme which gives car buyers across the UK a £2000 discount on new vehicles when they trade in an older car. Ford believes the new campaign will replace older, less fuel-efficient vehicles with cleaner and more fuel-efficient new Ford vehicles. (Related: Fiesta ST Ford Performance Edition)

The programme applies to most of Ford’s mainstream passenger and commercial vehicles, when customers trade in any make or model of older machine. Ford’s previous scrappage scheme in 2017-18 took 25,500 older vehicles off the road.

To qualify for the discount, customers must order their new Ford model before September 30, and register it before March 31, 2020. Traded-in vehicles will be scrapped at a government-certified disposal facility. (Related: All-new Ford Fiesta on-sale)

The scrappage saving can be used against the purchase of Ford commercial vehicles (excluding Transit Connect and Ranger Raptor), and Ford passenger vehicles (excluding KA+, Fiesta Trend, all Zetec derivatives, Mustang, and all ST derivatives (Fiesta ST-1, ST2 and ST-3; ST Performance Edition; and Focus ST).

“Our last Ford scrappage scheme saw 25,500 customers trade-in their older vehicles for Ford models equipped with our latest emissions and fuel-efficiency technologies, contributing to reducing CO2 and other emissions on UK roads,” Andy Barratt, managing director, Ford of Britain, said. “We expect our new Ford scrappage scheme to also have a positive impact on the environment.

“To help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the use of our vehicles, we are committed to making more efficient, lower-impact vehicles and technologies accessible at scale.

“Our new scrappage scheme not only helps to remove some of the oldest vehicles from the parc, but also introduces customers to the latest fuel-efficient technologies.”
