Electric Corsa-e to start at £26,490 05 | 06 | 2019
THE ALL-NEW, ALL-ELECTRIC Vauxhall Corsa-e is available to order from today from Scottish dealerships. Starting from £26,490, including the Government's plug-in car grant, the first 500 customers to place an order will receive a free home charging kit. A £500 deposit will secure an order. The first deliveries of the Corsa-e — which will have a 205-mile WLTP range, and be capable of an 80% charge in just 30 minutes — will begin in April 2020. Not only will it launch the brand’s strategic push towards the electrified and all-electric market, it’s the first new product produced by Vauxhall since it came under the ownership of Peugeot-Citroen (PSA).
The Corsa-e will be available with the choice of two trim levels, each coming with alloys wheels, 7-inch touch screen, satnav, DAB radio, rear parking sensors and LED headlights as standard. For the first time in a Corsa, lane keep assist will be offered. (Related: Vauxhall tops Scots car sales charts)
There’s also an infotainment system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A range of driver assistance features, including traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and park assist will also be incorporated.
Like the recently-introduced Peugeot e-208 — with which the Vauxhall shares much of its underpinnings — the Corsa-e will be powered by the same 50kWh battery electric motor delivering 134bhp and 191lb/ft. In town it’ll be a nippy wee thing, capable of 0-30mph in just 2.8secs. (Related: Peugeot unveils all-electric e-208)
Vauxhall has also given the Corsa-e three drive modes, Normal, Sport and Eco. The company claims the ‘standard’ 205-mile range can be extended by a whopping 40% if driven in Eco mode. Just for good measure, the car also comes with a regenerative braking system.
There will be subtle styling tweaks to the Corsa-e which will set it apart from the combustion-engined version. Look closely and you’ll spot the all-electric version gets a slightly different grille and a bespoke wheel design. As you would expect, the charging port is positioned where the fuel filler normally is.
On Personal Contract Purchase (PCP), the Corsa-e will start at £270 per month for 47 months, with a customer deposit of £5549.40 and an optional final payment of £9123.00, based on an SE model with optional Orange Fizz paint (£650).
Also standard will be the Corsa-e’s battery warranty, which guarantees that at least 70% of its capacity is maintained for 100,000 miles, or eight years.
Full specifications and range pricing will be available when Corsa-e receives its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
