Kia XCeed PHEV spec and prices 08 | 04 | 2020

    KIA HAS LAUNCHED its XCeed PHEV (plug-in hybrid) crossover into the UK market. With an electric-only range of up to 36 miles, the new Kia PHEV starts from £30,695. (Related: Kia releases 2020 Sorento SUV)

    Using the same plug-in hybrid system as fond in the Kia Niro PHEV, power comes from a combination of a 1.6-litre petrol engine and 60bhp electric motor; these unite to delver a maximum of 139bhp. Power is delivered through a six-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

    The all-electric range is achieved through the use of a 8.9kWh battery pack; using a 3.3kW charger, charging takes two hours and 15 minutes. (Related: All-new Kia XCeed crossover)

    With a top speed of 99mph, the XCeed PHEV hits 62mph from standstill in 10.6sec. As for fuel consumption, that depends on how you use the car.

    The official WLTP figure is — take a deep breath — 201.8mpg, when fitted with the standard 16in alloys. The figure ‘drops’ to 167.8mpg on 18in wheels. as for CO2? the PHEV emits 32g/km and 38g/km when fitted with 16in and 18in alloys respectively. (Related: Kia e-Niro starts at £32,995)

    The XCeed rides 20mm higher than the conventional Ceed and, combined with a new body, means it’s actually 48mm taller in total. In terms of styling, only the front doors are shared with the hatchback and Sportswagon Estate version.

    Also worth highlighting that the bootspace in the PHEV has been reduced from 426-litres to 291-litres, compared to combustion-powered XCeed models. (Related: Roadtest — Kia Stonic 1.0 T-GDi)

    The entry-level XCeed PHEV in ‘3’ trim starts at £30,695, and includes 16in alloys, electrically folding door mirrors, plus heated steering wheel and heated front seats as standard. Move up to the top spec First Edition and you get 18in alloys, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, wireless smartphone charging and a lane following assist system.

    Delivers of the XCeed PHEV will begin in the UK once normality returns to the industry in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
