MINI HAS LIFTED the wraps from its new, limited edition Sidewalk Convertible. Only 150 of the model will be available in the UK. Available to order now, with first deliveries scheduled for March, prices start at £34,215. (Related: Mini Electric has 124-mile range)
It’s powered by a 192bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine lifted from the Cooper S, and features Mini TwinPower Turbo technology and a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch and steering wheel paddles.
As you’d expect, the Sidewalk Cabrio comes with a host of extra goodies as standard. In addition to ‘Sidewalk’ badging on the front wings and a pair of bonnet stripes, complete with a textured effect highlighted by pinstriping, there’s a new paint and wheels; ‘Deep Laguna’ metallic and 17-inch two-tone alloys. One of the key attractions is the fabric roof which is available with a patterned arrow design. It opens electrically in 18 seconds to reveal an interior trimmed in dark grey leather.
The interior also features a new seat design with anthracite-coloured Mini Yours Leather Lounge, “Sidewalk" seat badging and contrasting seams in Petrol and Energetic Yellow colours. The sports leather steering wheel has a discreet “Sidewalk" logo at the bottom and is also finished with the contrasting seams.
The Sidewalk Cabrio also comes with a range of intuitive technologies as standard, including the Navigation Plus Pack featuring an 8.8in touch screen display, satnav with Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), wireless charging and Amazon Alexa functionality. The Comfort Plus Pack includes heated seats, and rear view camera with Park Distance Control at both the front and rear of the vehicle and Parking Assistant.
There’s also a Harmon Kardon hi-fi system, head-up display and driving modes which allow the driver to switch between Comfort, Eco and Sport driving styles. The package of standard equipment is completed with comfort access and wind deflector.
