Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition 02 | 06 | 2020

PORSCHE HAS INTRODUCED a new limited edition 911 Targa S Heritage Edition. Coming its weeks after the 2020 targa range was launched, the new special edition model is on sale in the UK now, priced from £136,643. First deliveries are set to arrive in autumn. Just 992 examples will be produced globally. (Related: New Porsche 911 Targa gets 444bhp)

Featuring a range of interior and exterior design features inspired by Porsche’s sports cars of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, the special edition is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six, which develops 444bhp and 530Nm of torque. That makes it good for 0–62mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 189mph. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. (Related: Porsche confirms base 911 prices)

What sets the limited edition apart is a number of visual changes, including a new “Porsche Heritage” emblem on the luggage compartment grille, door decals and racing numbers, plus new centre-lock alloy wheels. There’s also a unique white livery, with a pair of spear-shaped graphics for the front wings; Porsche says this is reminiscent of the its early race cars. (Related: New Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS)

What’s really cool is the fact the Targa Heritage Edition uses the same Porsche badge design used on the 1963 911.

Inside the cabin there’s more nostalgia. Not only is there two-tone beige and red (or optionally, black) leather upholstery, but there’s also corduroy seats and door trim. How retro? And mounted on the dashboard there’s a classic-look analogue rev-counter and stopwatch. (Related: Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 gets flat six)

To complete the look, Porsche Design has also created a limited edition watch to complement the Targa Heritage Edition. Also limited to just 992 units, it shares the same design as the car’s analogue gauges. As result it has a black watch face, Phosphorus Green highlights and hands styled to look like the car’s rev-counter needle.
