New look for Peugeot 5008 04 | 09 | 2020

PEUGEOT HAS UPDATED its 5008 family SUV with a bold new look. The revised version, which will begin arriving in UK showrooms over the next few months, now features a refreshed design and a number of technological refinements. (Related: All-new Peugeot e-208 on-sale)

The most noticeable changes have been made to the exterior of the 5008, which now shares the same familiar family face as the 208 hatchback and 508 saloon. Dominated by its large, frameless radiator grille, the 5008 benefits from similarly shaped headlamp units as its siblings, and a pair of extended, hook-shaped LED daytime running lights.

The changes inside the 5008’s cabin include a revised infotainment setup with an updated version of the car’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an all-new 10-inch infotainment screen; the latter controls all the car’s interior functions. It also features a series of seven elegant piano ‘toggle switches’ which provide direct access to main control functions, including the radio, Connected 3D Navigation, media and vehicle settings. There’s also a new range of technology upgrades. These include a new adaptive cruise control, which can automatically stop and restart the vehicle in heavy traffic; updated autonomous emergency braking and a tweaked lane-keeping assist system. The Peugeot traffic sign recognition system has also been upgraded to include warnings for one-way systems and no overtaking zones.

GT and GT Premium models feature full LED headlights with a new ‘Fog Mode’ function that replaces conventional fog lights.

For the first time, the new 5008 SUV is available with Night Vision, unique in its segment. Using infrared technology, pedestrians and animals detected ahead of the vehicle are highlighted on the 12.3-inch digital instrument display, up to 200m outside the scope of the headlights, ensuring safety even in total darkness.

2021 Peugeot 5008: Trim and equipment

Peugeot has streamlined the choice of trim levels on the new 5008 SUV into a three-tier system. Buyers can now choose from Peugeot’s Active, Allure and GT models; but the specification of each model can be further enhanced by the addition of option packs which each add a specific range of cosmetic and technology tweaks, depending on the trim-level.

The entry-level Active gets rear parking sensors, a DAB radio, two-zone air conditioning and 17in ‘Chicago’ alloys as standard. The Active Premium option pack adds front parking sensors, a 180-degree rear view camera and electrically folding door mirrors.

The range-topping 5008 GT stands out from the Active and Allure thanks to its contrasting black roof and a frameless rear-view mirror, red Nappa leather upholstery, dark lime wood door trims, plus LED headlamps and 18in onyx black ‘Detroit’ alloys.

The GT Premium Pack adds a hands-free tailgate, a pair of electrically adjustable and massaging front seats, a 515W Focal premium audio system and newly-designed 19-inch ‘San Francisco’ alloys.

    2021 Peugeot 5008: Engines

The engine range for the facelifted 5008 comprises four units — two petrols and two diesels — just like its predecessor. Buyers can choose from a 128bhp 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol unit, or a 178bhp 1.6-litre four-cylinder. While the former can fitted with a six-speed manual, both are available with as an eight-speed auto.
