Long range Kia e-Niro is sub-£35k 26 | 03 | 2021
KIA HAS INTRODUCED a new long-range 64kWh battery version of its e-Niro electric SUV. Priced at £34,945, the new model slips under the Government’s new lower maximum list price threshold for the plug-in car grant (PICG) by 55 quid. As a result, buyers qualify for the £2500 grant. It’s available to order now, with first d deliveries scheduled for July. (Related: Kia reveals all-electric EV6)
The Korean carmaker says the new model can travel up to 282 miles on a single charge (based on WLTP testing), and up to 382 miles in city driving. The company also says the latest e-Niro has the greatest range of any sub-£35k electric vehicle.
Available in Kia’s ‘2’ trim, the long-range e-Niro gets a reversing camera system, rear parking sensors, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.0-inch touchscreen display, plus 17in aluminium alloys. And in addition to keyless entry and go, there’s also an adaptive cruise control system. The latter can bring the car to a complete stop and restart it in traffic jams. Kia follows Citroen and Vauxhall in reducing the the price of its model to ensure it falls within the Govt’s new lower price limit to qualify for the £2500 grant. Vauxhall has trimmed the prices of its new Mokka-e electric crossover and the Vivaro-e van, while Citroen has cut £500 from the price of its range-topping e-C4 Shine Plus model. The later is expected to be the biggest seller in the e-C4 range. (Related: All-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5)
