Di Resta sets new DTM lap recordposted in DTM07 | 04 | 2017

SCOT PAUL Di RESTA warmed up for the start of the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) by setting a new lap record in testing at Hockenheim.

The 2010 DTM champ, who will again lead Mercedes’ assault on the championship, clocked a best time of 1min 30.238secs at the German circuit.

“That was a great way to finish the four-day test,” the 30-year-old from Bathgate said before flying overnight to Shanghai to fulfil his Sky Sports F1 pundit duties for this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix.

“We’ve shown in testing we have a fast car, and I believe we’re certainly in the position to make a strong challenge for the championship.”

Di Resta, whose time was eventually eclipsed by the BMW of Timo Glock by just 0.037s, gets his DTM season underway with the season-opener at Hockenheim four weeks today on May 7.
