Renault's new sporty crossover 11 | 02 | 2011

RENAULT HAS unveiled its new Captur sports crossover concept. The car, which will be shown at Geneva, acts as a design precursor for future models in the Renault range.

Powered by a dCi 160 twin-turbo engine concept, which has been developed from the new Energy dCi 130 engine which will eventually replace the 1.9 dCi, the Captur's engine is mated with an EDC dual clutch gearbox and CO2 emissions are expected to be below 99g/km.

The Captur also features a new traction system called RX2, which has a mechanical self-locking differential which transfers all or part of the engine’s torque to the wheel with the most grip to improve traction at low speeds.

The concept also marks the debut of the Visio-System which uses a forward-facing camera mounted at the top of the windscreen to provide driver-assistance functions.
