ASTON MARTIN HAS given its track-only Vulcan an AMR Pro upgrade. The new pack adds even more dynamic and efficient aerodynamics and a re-tuned gearbox. (Related: Related: Aston Martin wins Le Mans — Exclusive Jonny Adam interview)
Set to make its debut at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Vulcan AMR Pro package will be made available to all 24 current Vulcan owners.
Can you spot the new aero work? Hmmm …. it’s not really difficult. At the front there’s new louvers above the wheel arches, while a quartet of dive planes has been added at the nose, two on either side.
Hidden underneath the car, turning vanes have been added beneath the front splitter to aid steering response. There’s also a new engine cover panel which is 5kg lighter than the standard one.
Oh, and did we mention the humungous new era wing? Not only is it larger, but it features a second plane, plus a 20mm Gurney flap. In addition, the rear wing endplates now feature new slots with 15mm Gurney flaps of their own.
The result is a significant increase in maximum downforce, comfortably topping that of the Vantage GTE Fifer Jonny Adam powered to class victory in this month’s Le Mans 24-Hours.
Squeezed below the bonnet remains the same 800bhp+ naturally aspirated 7.0-litre V12 engine, but Aston Martin has tweaked the gearbox for shorter ratios, for punchier acceleration.
Fitted by Aston’s ‘Q’ special operations division, the AMR Pro upgrade package has already been slotted into the first of the 24 Vulcans.
