The engine, which debuted in the F-Type, returns 37mpg for the F-Pace, 40mpg for the XF and 41.5mpg for the XE, according to Jaguar.

As for CO2, it emits 163g/km and 157g/km for the XF and XE respectively. Jaguar has yet to confirm the figure for the F-Pace.

Not surprisingly, the 2.0-litre unit is at its fastest in the XE, where Jaguar claims 0-62mph in 5.5sec, while the XF and F-Pace take 5.6sec and 5.7sec.

Jaguar Land Rover also plans to replace its V6 engines with 3.0-litre, straight-six Ingenium petrol engines.
