Knockhill gets 2018 BTCC date 26 | 05 | 2017
SCOTLAND’S NATIONAL MOTORSPORT circuit, Knockhill, will host the eighth race weekend of the 2018 British Touring Car Championship as the series marks its 60th anniversary. (Related: Shedden wins chaotic Oulton finale)
Next year, Britain’s top motorsport series will make its annual pilgrimage to the Fife circuit over the weekend of Aug 25-26.
This year the BTCC visits Knockhill a fortnight earlier on Aug 12-13, and with Scot Gordon Shedden (pictured) currently leading the championship after a race win last time out in his Honda at Oulton Park, another bumper crowd is expected.
The 2018 calendar — apart from Rockingham and Knockhill swapping dates — is the same as this year’s with Brands Hatch once again playing host to both the season opener on April 8 and the finale on September 30.
Some venues have had their dates shifted, however; Donington Park has been moved back a week, while Thruxton, Oulton Park and Croft are all now two weeks later, shortening the summer break.
The pre-season launch will be held at Donington Park on March 27.
