New Peter Vardy CarStore opens 15 | 05 | 2017

SCOTLAND’S MOST EXPANSIVE group, Peter Vardy, opened its state-of-the-art, supersized Dundee CarStore on the Dunsinane Industrial Estate, close to the Kingsway, at the weekend.

The new custom built venue — one of the largest dealerships in Scotland and the group’s 12th site in the country — is a 70,000sq/ft heated showroom, larger than the group’s current flagship outlet, the Peter Vardy Hillington CarStore on the periphery of Glasgow.

The CarStore seeks to provide the Dundee and Tayside public with a new way of buying a car. No expense has been spared on the design and technology of the venue, and its opening at the weekend saw more than 500 cars ready to be driven away, with massive savings of up to 60% in some cases.

“The CarStore Dundee builds on the success of our Hillington venue and is designed to be a destination dealership,” Peter Vardy, chief executive of the fast-growing group, said. “My vision has been to make it a comfortable space where people can relax and choose the car of their dreams.

“When the doors opened, pleased to welcome the people of Tayside to a new way and, I think, the best way, to buy their next car.”

The Dundee CarStore also includes a life-size ship in the kid’s zone, the Marmalade Jar cafĂ©, and kids have the chance to get a picture taken with ‘Oor Ink’.

The ‘Oor Ink’ statue of Oor Wullie, part of Dundee’s rich heritage, was a key part of last year’s popular ‘Bucket Trail’, and was bought by the Peter Vardy Group at auction to adorn the Dundee CarStore.

The Trail saw 70 statues of the beloved character placed in various locations around Dundee to commemorate the 80th anniversary of The Broons and Oor Wullie.

The new development has created more than 100 high quality jobs in sales, vehicle repair, maintenance and support services.

Peter Vardy operates six Vauxhall volume dealerships in Aberdeen, Perth, Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh, Motherwell and Dalgety Bay (Fife).

In addition, it operates five prestige dealerships selling Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche or BMW-Mini vehicles.

The group is a regular automotive industry award winner and has been listed in the Sunday Times Best Company to Work For in Scotland compilation for a number of years.
