JEEP’S NEW COMPASS SUV is now on-sale at Scottish dealerships priced from £22,995. First deliveries are expected to start at the beginning of February. (Related: Jeep backs 'Thunder in the Glens')
The range, which tops-out at £35,595 for high-spec models, includes two petrol and three diesel engines. Buyers also get the choice of front-wheel drive on selected models.
A raft of safety tech, such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera contributed to the Compass’ five-star EURO NCAP rating.
The entry-level Sport trim is only available with the 118bhp 1.6-litre Multijet diesel, and includes LED tail lights, forward collision warning, cruise control and 16in alloys as standard.
The Longitude trim, which costs an extra £2000, delivers more engine choices: there’s a 118bhp 1.6-litre diesel, 138bhp 1.4 turbo petrol and 138bhp 2.0 diesel with four-wheel drive diesel. This trim also adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, an 8.4-inch infotainment system and keyless entry as standard, and comes on 17in alloys.
Step up to the Limited spec, which starts at £27,995, and you get heated seats, blind spot detection, park assist and 18in alloys. There’s also a nine-speed automatic gearbox on the more powerful 168bhp versions of the 1.4 turbo and 2.0 diesel. These are priced £32,595 and £35,595 respectively.
The range-topping model spec, the Trailhawk, is only available with the 168bhp 2.0 diesel. Standard equipment includes a low range gearbox, raised off-road suspension, front and rear skid plates and hill descent. Frustratingly, this model won’t arrive in Scottish showrooms till summer 2018.
Across the Compass range, it’s Jeep’s first model to feature the brand’s new Uconnect entertainment and navigation system.
