FORD HAS LAUNCHED a higher-specification version of its quickest hatchback. The new Focus RS Edition is on-sale now at Scottish dealerships priced from £35,795. (Related: Roadtest — Ford Focus RS)
Costing £3530 more than the regular car, the RS Edition gets a Quaife limited-slip differential (LSD) which splits the torque more effectively across its front axle.
The new LSD is the fastest-reacting form of diff available. It complements the car’s existing GKN-developed Twinster torque vectoring system at the rear.
According to Ford, the new LSD also improves traction and increases agility with the new set-up.
Engine-wise, the Focus RS Edition retains the 345bhp 2.3-litre Ecoboost four-cylinder of the regular car, enabling it to cover 0-62mph in 4.7secs.
Externally, the RS Edition gains matt black 19in alloys, mounted ahead of Brembo four-piston monoblock calipers. The interior is distinguished by Recaro sports seats as standard; they’re normally an option.
The Focus RS can also be ordered with a Ford-certified Mountune FPM375 power upgrade. This increases engine output to 370bhp.
