Lexus previews new UX crossover 20 | 02 | 2018

LEXUS HAS RELEASED a teaser image of its all-new small SUV, the UX, ahead of its official unveil at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The car, which is expected to start below £30,000 when it goes onsale in Scottish dealerships later this year, will go head-to-head with the likes of the BMW X1,  Jaguar E-Pace, Volvo XC40 and Mercedes GLA. Set to be powered by a mix of internal combustion engine and traditional hybrid powertrains, it’s expected the UX will share powerplants with lower-end Lexus NX SUV models and the CT hatchback.

Building on the looks of the UX concept, which was revealed at the Paris motor show in 2016, the teaser image of the production version suggests Lexus has toned down some of the features. That means out go the door cameras which replaced the mirrors.

However, it’s expected that a number of the Japanese car maker’s edgy lines will be carried over, while the spindle grille — which has proven to be a divisive feature — is also likely to stay.

The teaser image — called the F Sport, which is likely to be a range-topping model — shows the a light strip across the back of the car.
