Toyota Aygo gets 2018 facelift 23 | 02 | 2018

TOYOTA HAS LIFTED the wraps from a new Aygo, which will enter Scottish showrooms later this year, most likely around June. The facelifted city car, which comes four years after the introduction of the second-generation, will make its full public debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. Keeping its unusual but instantly identifiable X-shaped profile, the facelifted version benefits from a number of design changes. The grille is much more emphasised with horizontal slats and a tweaked front apron, plus it houses new foglight. There are also freshly added faux grille trim pieces.

And while the rear of the 2018 Aygo gets a new set of taillights, there’s also a new range of alloys wheels and paint colours.

Inside the cabin, you need to look harder and closer to spot the difference. There are new graphics contained within the instrument cluster, plus fresh interior trim options and new seat fabrics.

Toyota has also tweaked the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine to improve fuel economy and performance.

Significantly, the changes mean the engine now conforms with  the latest Euro 6.2 emission standards. Power rises by 2bhp to 71bhp and combined fuel economy climbs from 68.9mpg to 72.4mpg. CO2 figures have yet to be released, but Toyota says the 2018 Aygo is cleaner.

The cabin is also set to be a quieter environment, with Toyota adding new sound absorption behind the dashboard, front pillars, doors and rear deck. Tweaks have also been made to the suspension and steering systems.
