Wylie gains full BRDC membershipposted in OTHER11 | 01 | 2021

SCOT ROSS WYLIE has been selected as a highly sought after Full Member of the prestigious British Racing Drivers’ Club. The BRDC is arguably the most exclusive club in motor racing. (Related: Wylie bags first Porsche GB win)

With a membership that numbers only 850, it is home to the most successful racing drivers from Great Britain and the Commonwealth.

“I’m delighted to have been chosen for Full Membership which is a huge privilege,” 29-year-old Wylie said. “I first joined the BRDC in 2013 and I must thank everyone involved, as I’m immensely proud. It’s all systems go currently in trying to pull together a programme for 2021 but this news is a real boost.” (Related: Wylie powers to Porsche top six)

Wylie joined the club in 2013 as a BRDC “Rising Star” and was then selected as a BRDC “SuperStar” in 2015. Those who have met the exacting Full Member entry criteria have achieved at the highest levels of the sport or made a significant contribution to enable others to do so.

The Scot, 2014 British GT4 Champion, claimed Dunlop Britcar Endurance Championship class honours for a third time in the last four years in 2020, losing out on a second overall championship title by a mere five-points despite missing four of the 10 races. Wylie also netted seventh-place in the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB standings in his MacConnal-Mason Gallery-supported Porsche 911 GT3.

Membership of the BRDC is highly sought after and extremely difficult to achieve. The list of members, past and present, reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of motor sport. These include Twynholm-born David Coulthard, who is currently the BRDC President, Allan McNish, from Dumfries, West Lothian’s Dario Franchitti and Dunbartonshire’s Sir Jackie Stewart.
