Range Rover Evoque gets 2024 facelift 21 | 06 | 2023
THE RANGE ROVER EVOQUE has been given a long-awaited facelift for the 2024 model. Order books for the updated version of the second-gen small SUV are open now. But just be aware. The entry price for the Evoque now starts at £40,080. That’s a whopping increase of more than £5000 over the pre-facelift car.
While there are a number of small, subtle styling tweaks to the outside, the main improvements are to the interior. Most notably, higher quality materials, plus additional on-board technology.
Immediately noticeable is the new 11.4-inch floating, curved infotainment touchscreen, which features Jaguar Land Rover’s Pivi Pro operating system. Amazon Alexa voice-recognition is also included.
And that’s just as well, because unlike pre-facelift Evokes, the 2024 model sees all of the car’s functions now operated via this single screen. That includes the climate controls. And there’s no denying the design creates a more minimalist look, which is certainly attractive. The only physical control on the centre console is now the gear selector.
Elsewhere in the cabin, it’s clear JLR has striven to lift the quality of materials used up to the same standard as found in the Evoque’s larger siblings in the range. And when it comes to the environment, the brand is keen for customers to move to its leather alternatives designed by Danish textile company Kvadrat. However if you fancy real leather, that will continue too for the near future.
Externally, the most noticeable changes are to the front grille, plus the addition of new slimmer head and tail lights. The styling is clearly aimed at bringing the Evoque closer to the looks of the models in the Range Rover range. Worth stressing too that the new headlights benefit from improved Pixel LEDs, along with the brand’s latest matrix dimming technology.
As for engines, the 2024 Evoque will again include the choice of D165 and D200 diesel engines, as well as the P200 and P250 petrols. All but the entry-level D165 S manual is available with four-wheel-drive and mild-hybrid powertrains as standard. There are no changes to the trim levels, though the ‘R-Dynamic’ name has been shortened to ‘Dynamic’.
The range also still includes the P300e plug-in hybrid. An while it has received some light tweaking to its battery chemistry, its claimed pure-electric range has been improved only by one mile, up to a total of 39 miles.
There are obvious economic reasons for Range Rover’s decision not to invest further in the mild facelift. The company has always stressed it plans to introduce a fully electrify the lineup within the next few years. Next year should see the arrival of the all-electric Range Rover, with both the Velar and Evoque to be replaced by all-new EV models starting in 2025.
