Car-share launched in Glasgow 11 | 10 | 2010

A NEW CAR-SHARING club, which claims to be the world's greenest, has been launched in Glasgow. Using a fleet of hybrid Toyotas, the City Car Club expects to expand faster than its counterpart which is already established in Edinburgh.

The pay-as-you-drive club aims to expand to 60 cars in three years and boost membership from the initial 60 to 2000. The Edinburgh City Car Club, launched 11 years ago, has 100 cars and 4000 members.

James Finlayson, managing director of the firm which also runs clubs in 13 English cities, predicted Glasgow's would expand faster because of the shortage of parking and increasing awareness of car-sharing clubs.
